ETH Postdoctoral Fellowship for Dr. Arturo Chao Correas
Dr. Arturo Chao Correas, a postdoctoral researcher at CMBM, has recently been awarded an ETH Postdoctoral Fellowship. Congratulations!

The competitive ETH Postdoctoral Fellowship awarded to Dr. Chao Correas will provide two years of funding for implementing the CryoCracks project, a scientific initiative aimed at improving our understanding of the physics governing frost-driven fracture in hydrogels. The research project will be hosted at Prof. Kammer’s CMBM group while also establishing a close interdepartmental collaboration with Dr. Style’s group from D-MATL. Through this synergetic partnership, Dr. Chao Correas will complement cutting-edge simulations with detailed experimental data, hence allowing for a comprehensive look into this complex multiphysical phenomenon. The outcomes of this project are expected to help improve the prevention and control of frost-driven fracture in wet solids, hence holding great potential for highly relevant fields such as food science and medicine.
