The Group

We try to establish a complementary balance between fundamental research on complex systems behaviour, like the one observed in fracture, fragmentation, morphogenesis or granular matter on different scales and practical predictions for building materials with focus on wood materials and cementitious materials. 

A nice example is our project on "Creep behavior of wood on multiple scales", where we try to establish the link between micro-phenomena of creep deformation under changing climate and the macroscopically observed behavior of spruce and beech.
