Federico Martinelli Orlando joined the group of Durability of Engineering Materials in August 2017. He is a PhD student working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ueli Angst on the variation of pH and oxygen concentration on steel in cathodic protection condition and on the interaction between coating defects as function of distance.
Before coming to ETH Zurich, Federico was working in Italy as R&D engineer focusing on polymer processing.
He completed his Master’s degree in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology at Politecnico di Milano in September 2016 under the guidance of Prof. Giovanni Dotelli. His MSc thesis was focused on the characterization of phase transitions of piezoelectric ceramic lead-free material.
He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology at Politecnico di Milano in June 2014.
