Yurena Seguí Femenias received an SNSF/Innosuisse Bridge Proof of Concept grant in February 2018. This grant allows her to develop the sensor system used in her PhD further towards a commercial product.

Between November 2017 and May 2018, Yurena is in collaboration with Lafarge-Holcim Research Centre in order to apply the sensor system developed in her PhD to study the durability performance of various cement types.

Yurena obtained her PhD in December 2017 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bernhard Elsener in the “Corrosion and Durability” research group in ETH Zürich. Her PhD focused on the development of a durability sensor system to be embedded in reinforced concrete.

She joined the “Physical Chemistry of Building Materials” research group in ETH Zürich in June 2012 as a researcher to further develop the topic of her master thesis.

Yurena started her master thesis in March 2011 thesis in the cement group of Corporate Research at Sika Techonoloy under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Robert Flatt. She focused her research on particular aspects of shrinkage reducing admixtures and expansive agents for shrinkage compensated mortars.

Yurena completed her M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering in May 2012 at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).
