Marcos Lanzón is a visiting professor at the group of Physical Chemistry of Building Materials (ETH Zürich). He holds a position as a professor at the School of Architecture and Building Engineering, UPCT Spain. His research is focused on building and architectural materials with a major focus on heritage conservation and chemical synthesis of nanoparticles used as consolidants. He gained a PhD in Chemistry in 2009 from the University of Murcia under the guidance of Prof. Pedro A. García-Ruiz. His PhD was focused on lightweight cement renders and the effect of alkyl-siloxanes and metallic esters on water absorption and acid rain resistance.

He joined UPCT in 2009, and shortly after he made a postdoctoral stay at the University of Gent in non-destructive 3D imaging / X-ray CT with the group of Prof. Veerle Cnudde. Before this, he worked in the industry in the research and development of renders and plasters (EN 998-1) and cement-based adhesives (EN 12004). He has collaborated as expert in international panels and EU funding schemes under 7thFP and H2020. Currently, he is member of several editorial boards, scientific committees, and work programmes under Horizon Europe.
