Camilla Tennenini is a PhD candidate in the Group of Physical Chemistry of Building Materials since 2023. Her work is focused on restoring and conserving historic buildings, with a specific focus on the understanding of sandstone degradation processes. The framework of the research has been carefully crafted to encourage collaboration and synergy between laboratory research on materials and on-site applications. She is currently working on studying diagnostic techniques and preservation solutions for stone buildings as part of the interdisciplinary "Protecting Sandstone Monuments" project. This project is funded by the ETH Research Grant from D-BAUG and aims to develop a new approach to preserving sandstone cathedrals and castles against the consequences of weathering.

She pursued her education with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Science and Technology for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the University La Sapienza di Roma. During her Master's degree, she specialised in inorganic and building materials. Her area of expertise includes geologic materials, stones, and mortar. She has also gained experience in fresco techniques and pigment analysis through various case studies in Italy and Switzerland.

Consequently, she completed a second-level master's program in HBIM (Heritage Building Information Modelling), which equipped her with the knowledge to improve the workflow and documentation of Cultural Heritage towards the development of Digital Twins to be used to support conservation practices.
